Stream management

For easy access and management, the video streams for events are stored in one place and you can access them in Backstage in the left navigation menu under the "Streams" tab.

There are a couple of prerequisites before you can add a new stream and they include:

  • Day - the day of the event assigned to a specific stream; you create the day in the Agenda tab and the Days subfolder
  • Stage: Where in the event your audience can find the stream.  The creation of the stage on which you are placing the stream, or from which the stream will be broadcast.  Create a Stage in the Agenda tab and the Stages & Slide subtab
  • Source URL: Location from where to access your stream for broadcasting.  This can be your data centre, a hosting partner, or a streaming service.

The name of the stream will be visible in "Virtual Venue":

  • in the stream preview at the time of the event:

  • on the stream preview page in the in the stream archives section:

Adding a new stream

To create a new stream, press the "Add new stream" button and fill in the necessary details.

In the "Settings" sub-tab you specify general settings about a particular stream:

Countdown timer

If you want to show a countdown timer in the stream window before the event starts, you can do so by activating the “Show countdown to video stream start” option.  Be advised, you must not have a cover image already associated with the streaming window. If you assign a cover image to the upcoming stream, the countdown cannot be enabled and will not be displayed.

In the "Stream Source" sub-tab, you click the "Add source" so that attendees can access the stream:

On the right side, you will see an editing window where you insert the source outputs (links) for the specific video stream and, if necessary, the source (link) for the archived recording. Supported platforms include: YouTube, Vimeo and MPEG4 (stored on the web). After entering the URL, the system automatically detects the specific platform on which the recording was saved. You can also assign a custom image to the video.
